Journey

For this piece I thought I'd show a bit of my process. I wanted to produce something with a definate sense of scale and depth (something an earlier painting lacked which irritated me). The floating rocks are a little fantasy cliché' but it was another means to convey a constant feeling of depth.

In terms of process I tend to start with a sketch, then through in some tones in grayscale before roughing up some colour and texture over the top. I rarely go with texture ideas so early but in the case of the rocks it helped the scale and perspective as I painted into the piece so it helped in the end :)

'Sci fi' dock

Well my desk finally arrived so i could get on with some painting! Figured Sci-fi would be good place to start as it's where I feel most comfortable. There's still lots of extra elements I know I could put in but I think that could go on for ever and I want to start something new. Plan to focus on my conceptual work this month then may move into some matte projections next month...cheers

Mark Hunter

Just a WIP of something I'm working on at the moment-it's kind of B-movie-esque. Portrays a sci-fi bounty-hunter going after a new "Mark", but this Monster maybe a little more than he bargained for :-O

Will try and find time to get it finished but i got interrupted to work on something else so everything's a bit of a juggle act at the mo! Will be posting a lot of stuff over the next few days to fill this "place" up! Personal projects and Professional productions I've worked on!

The FIRST post on the NEW blog!

A character concept for the main character of an IP that a friend and I have been working on. The project is titled "Hood". It's always simmering away in the background for us, but it's nice to come back to it every now and again to give it a bit of a different spin. Plus it's a good excuse to make a return to characters, i get so easily caught up in environments and vehicles :-S
